The Great Urban Hack NYC

Last week we joined some of the best journalists, designers and developers across NYC in a 48 hour open-source hackathon. The project encouraged ad-hoc teams to work together and create original open-source ideas for journalism, civic engagement and technology in their city.

The Great Urban Hack was produced by Hacks & Hackers NYC, organized by Jenny 8 Lee, Chrys Wu, Al Shaw and sponsored by Eyebeam Art + Technology Center, Google and AOL. The project was great fun and our small team housed some rock star creatives, many of whom we'll surely utilize in the near future. Our team was headed by Malik Singleton and the project was dubbed 5W. For more on the 5W project drop Malik an email.
